Dangers
to be aware of:
|
| The body expects a certain
amount of thyroid hormone, if this hormone is lacking the
pituitary gland will produce thyroid-stimulating-hormone in an
effort to entice the thyroid to increase its production. This
increased level of thyroid stimulating hormones will cause the
thyroid gland to enlarge and form a goiter. A goiter is an
enlarged thyroid. An enlarged thyroid will compress the
windpipe, esophagus, and may lead to symptoms such as
difficulty breathing.
