| Hypothyroidism is a common
condition of which the body
produces insufficient quantities of the thyroid hormone.
The thyroid hormone's main
function is to regulate the body's metabolism. People with
hypothyroidism have a slow metabolism and most of the problems
they experience are a result of this.
The thyroid hormone is produced
by the thyroid, which is a small butterfly-shaped gland
located in the front of the neck. Thyroid hormones are chemical
messengers that signal the body to increase oxygen use.
The two thyroid hormones are L-triiodothyronine
& Thyroxine.
